have you by a chance managed to install and run Matlab successfully on the Ubuntu distribution?

allo mostarac! yep I sure did, here are the steps:

1) mounted the matlab dvd iso

Code: Select all

sudo mkdir -p /mnt/iso
sudo mount -o loop MatlabR2007b_Unix_Linux_Mac.iso /mnt/iso


2) made a directory where I wanted matlab installed and placed the uni license file in it

Code: Select all

sudo mkdir /opt/matlab
cp license.dat /opt/matlab


3) run the installer from the destination directory

cd /opt/matlab
/mnt/iso/install


4) followed the prompts, then run matlab with

Code: Select all

/opt/matlab/bin/matlab -nodesktop -nojvm
