nedit: copy and paste a column of text

Postby QuantumKnot on March 24th, 2008, 10:02 pm

While nedit has been largely forgotten with the new whiz-bang text editors, there is one particular ability of nedit that I haven't seen yet in any other text editor.

Basically I wanted to copy a column of data into matlab so that I could find its standard deviation (but I was too lazy to write scripts or code to extract it out). So nedit came to rescue my lazy ass by allowing me to ctrl-drag a column of data :D

I was under the impression that visual mode only selects rows of text. I didn't think you could just select a column.

Yeah I know, that's how KKP used to extract student names and no.'s from the class lists, right? The young ones don't know about nedit though 8-)
