Note that this is only a display problem. Exporting to eps will have the proper fonts. To fix it, yum down the following two packages
xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-75dpi
xorg-x11-fonts-ISO8859-1-100dpi

Missing fonts in MATLAB in Fedora 10

Some X11 fonts don't come with the default install of Fedora 10, which results in this:
Note that this is only a display problem. Exporting to eps will have the proper fonts. To fix it, yum down the following two packages
